Who is Samantha?

For those of you new to the story, Samantha is our "lucky pig" (see the Chinese calendar for more info).

Born:  March 20, 2007 at 8:36 am

Weight:  7 lbs, 5.5 oz

Length:  19 1/2 in.

Hair:  Not much at birth, now light brown

Eyes:  Hazel (which means they're green, gray or blue, depending on the light, the mood, and the ensemble).

Shortly after birth, Samantha had a brain hemmorhage that resulted in severe hydrocephalus.  There were fears that she wouldn't come home, then fears that she would be on a ventilator, then fears that she wouldn't see, hear, move, think, you name it.  While the long term impact is still unknown, today Samantha is a cheerful baby who likes to babble and coo, loves to receive kisses, and plays actively with her toys and bouncy seat.  We have high hopes that her difficulties are in the past and she will be the "most studied normal child in history".  She is the toughest kid I know.  Thank you, God!  And thank you to all the medical staff who saw her through this, especially Dixie, the nurse who saw her symptoms and insisted that the on-call pediatrician visit us in the wee hours of the night when Samantha had her first full-blown seizure.
